Parker Dugdale from Barrowford married Sarah Horner and then they moved
to Cardiff where he managed the South Wales Jam and Marmalade Company from its
inception in 1884.

Horner (b 1895, listed as William Horner) was decorated (Chevalier
of the Order of Leopold with Palm, and Croix de Guerre 1940 with Palm)
by the Belgian Government for his part in running supplies to assist in the liberation
of Belgium as Captain of SS Benjamin Sherburn in WWII.

In 1921/2 Horner married in Merthyr and had a son; in 1925
Horner was described as a factory manager; in 1926 he had succeeded his father
in business (SW Jam..). Presumably he returned to the sea for WW2.

FUNERAL OF MR. PARKER DUGDALE. The funeral took place at Cardiff Cemetery on
Tuesday of Mr. Parker Dugdale, one of the founders of the South Wales Jam and
Marmalade Company, and for more than forty years a prominent member of the
Conway-road Wesley Church and its Sunday school. The Rev. D. Rees, pastor of
Conway-road officiated.
The family mourners were Mr. W. H. Dugdale and Mr.
J. Dugdale (sons), Mr. Chas. Hayward and Mr. Wesley Jenkins (sons-in-law),
Mr. J. Bentham and Mr. A. Stanworth (uncles).

RECENT WILLS. MR. PARKER DUGDALE, CARDIFF. Mr. Parker Dugdale, of 1,
Major-road, Cardiff, a director of the Romilly Motor Company, Cardiff, the
Pioneer Bakery, Newport, and manager of the South Wales Jam and Marmalade
Factory, who died on May 20, left estate of the gross value of £2,037, with
net personalty[sic] £934. Probate of the will, dated May 1 last, has been granted
to his sons Mr. Parker Dugdale, of 40, Newfoundland-road, marine officer; Mr.
James Dugdale, of 1, Major-road, marine engineer; and Mr. William Horner
Dugdale, of 21, Denton-road, factory manager. Testator left his estate to his
wife during widowhood, with remainder to his children Mary Evelyn, Gwendoline,
Dorothy, Gladys, Parker, James, and William Horner.
Newspaper Western Mail Nov 3 1926: Mrs. Parker DUGDALE, of Major-road, Canton, Cardiff, widow of Mr. Parker DUGDALE formerly managing director of the South Wales Jam and Marmalade Company, Cardiff, has died at the age 70 years. Mrs. DUGDALE was an active and helpful member of the Victoria Park Wesleyan Church, Canton. She is survived by three sons and four daughters. One of the sons Mr. Horner DUGDALE, succeeded his father in business.
