Edward Hayward, born 1853, moved to Cardiff to take a job as a policeman.
He was known as "Hayward the Silent", when a policeman: so noted for
his huge size that he had been locally unique in being able to patrol
the dockland single-handed.
At age 22, he met and married Elizabeth Williams who had moved to
Cardiff from Pembrokeshire.
A record of his Police Service.
Edward was promoted superintendent and their children were well educated: Edward as a lawyer (a justices' clerk); William as an accountant (for the Ministry of Education) and Charles as a teacher. The family kept in touch with Georgeham, taking holidays there.
