About
I am a part-time EdD Supervisor based in the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES), School of Histories, Languages and Cultures. I take an active interest in the wider life of the academy and conduct research, regularly publishing in the areas of professional practice, and leadership preparation and development. I am Visiting Senior Fellow in the Department of Social Policy, at the London school Economics. I was awarded a Pearson National Teaching Award in 2021, having previously become a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching in 2019, and a Senior Fellow of the HE Academy in 2016, and a Fellow of the RSA in 2015. I have run a regional education charity where we train teachers as part of a collaborative partnership with our local university, and run continuing professional and leadership development (CPLD) for science teachers, and head teachers.
I came into Higher Education in 2008, after working in schools, and a ‘top ten’ sixth form college for 12 years, where I held various leadership roles. I have since run both undergraduate and postgraduate pathways at the University of Derby (2008-2015), and a Masters programme at the University of Warwick (2015-2018). I have been an EdD supervisor with Liverpool, originally through the Laureate partnership, since 2017. I am an active member of BELMAS where I am Chair 2023-2026, and established the Research Interest Group (RIG) in Leadership Preparation and Development (LPD) in 2015, that I still co-convene. I am a member of BERA, and their Educational Leadership SIG, and a former International Committee member of IPDA (2015-2018). I am also a Regional Leader for the international grassroots movement @WomenEd. I am an Associate Editor of the journal Equity in Education, regularly review papers, externally examine, and now have 20 doctoral completions.LinkedIn Profile
