International Day for Biological Diversity: Building Back Biodiversity
The 22nd May 2023 marks the 22nd annual International Day of Biodiversity, a globally recognised day to raise awareness of biodiversity issues. Promoted by the United Nations, it aims to promote innovative solutions to the biodiversity crisis and bring these to the forefront of global conversations on sustainable development.

Have your say on travel and transport at the University - complete our annual travel survey
Annual travel surveys are being launched for the first time since the pandemic, to help us gather information on staff and student travel habits, including how people travel to and from the University, how often they travel and what modes of transport they use. The surveys will also seek opinions on sustainable travel schemes and initiatives.

Recycling and the circular economy
The University’s Sustainability Strategy sets out a number of key targets in relation to reducing waste by 50% and embedding a circular economy across all University operations. To help us achieve these targets, two new roles have been established in the Environmental Sustainability team in FRCS. We caught up with Dr Rhiannon Hunt, Circular Economy Manager and Sam Hay, Waste and Recycling Officer, to find out more.
