Issue 4 - September 2022
As 2022 draws to a close, we are excited to bring you the latest edition of Sustainable Liverpool, which celebrates the launch of the University’s new Climate Plan and what you can expect in 2023 and beyond.
The was launched in November and in this issue we explore a number of key activities and commitments designed to help the University achieve net zero by 2035. Adding to the positive news, we highlight the achievement of our Sustainability Strategy target for education for all students to have access to a sustainability related module, activity or extra-curricular learning. We also look at how we are supporting staff and students in making more sustainable travel choices, as well as improving our approach to the products and services we buy and use.
We know that we will need to invest in order to meet our net zero ambitions, and that includes making sure we have the right people and expertise in place to drive forward key initiatives. In this issue we highlight two new members of the Environmental Sustainability Team in FRCS, the Circular Economy Manager and the Waste and Recycling Officer, to hear about their roles and priorities going forward. Plus, we find out more about the planned energy audit, and how this will help us prioritise and implement effective retrofitting and energy saving measures across the campus.
Everyone has a part to play in helping the University achieve its net zero target. So please and share your sustainability news, and who knows, you could be featured in the next issue of Sustainable Liverpool!
