As the Convenor for BALEAP’s EAP for Social Justice Special Interest Group (SIG), I coordinate efforts to centre social justice in discussions around EAP learning, teaching and research: EAP for Social Justice SIG website. Our SIG’s core aims include:

- Advocating for social justice in EAP: Putting social justice on the agenda in EAP discourse, with a focus on widening the parameters of the field to include diverse perspectives and practices.

- Demonstrating the value of a social justice lens: Building an evidence base that highlights the positive impact of social justice-oriented approaches on EAP pedagogy and scholarship.

- Collaborating across movements: Working with organisations, movements, and initiatives that recognise the intersectional nature of social justice in education.

- Building a community of practice: Creating a welcoming, active community for EAP professionals committed to social justice, where members can support each other, share good practice, and be inspired to take action.

In my role, I work alongside committee members to organise discussions, resources, and events that bring together like-minded practitioners and educators. By facilitating this collaborative platform, we ensure that the SIG supports members in exploring, developing, and implementing social justice principles within their own spheres of influence.
