Teaching

As an educator with a strong background in medicinal chemistry and molecular biology I have delivered biochemistry lectures and workshops to a diverse range of subjects including biomedical, bio-veterinary, biology, biotechnology, biochemistry and analytical chemistry. Beginning at A-level outreach and continuing up to PhD programmes I am adept at levelling material to the target audience and meeting associated UKPSF requirements. As the topics I have been sought out to teach are newly established disciplines (metabolomics and metabolic profiling) I have also designed the lectures, assessment and evaluation frameworks necessary to meet the hallmarks of authentic assessment.

I teach on Masters module LIFE754 (Proteomics, Metabolomics and Data Analysis) at the University of Liverpool and guest lecture on Masters module MMB8053 (technologies for Biomedical Sciences) at Newcastle University.

My enthusiasm for teaching lead to me undertaking a Certificate in professional teaching and learning at Liverpool (resulting in my fellowship status from the HEA) in 2018. Due to my interest in academic practice I followed up in 2020-2022 with a Post graduate certificate in academic practice (distinction awarded Nov 2022) which included an original scholarship piece.
