Earth Day 2024: Planet vs. Plastics
Earth Day is one of the most prominent annual awareness days that sheds light on the importance of on our planet's health and our individual roles in preserving it. This year, the theme is Planet vs Plastics. Supporting students through hardship in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The University provides support for students who are experiencing poverty, including hardship funding and other financial help, as well as a range of other measures such as providing subsidised food and extending access to campus facilities. Materials Innovation Factory lab achieves LEAF Gold Award

The Big Energy Debate
Rachel Hanmer-Dwight, Carbon & Utilities Manager, recently joined the Panel for the Big Energy Debate during this year’s UHEI conference. The session focused on energy and the different paths estate management professionals in both the HE and NHS sectors are taking to reach net zero, reduce fossil fuel dependency and adopt more sustainable power sources.

Embedding race equality into everything we do

Sustainability funding awarded
The Sustainability Fund received a diverse range of applications from staff keen to establish projects aligned to the aims of our Sustainability Strategy. Ten projects were awarded funding in June, and Sustainable Liverpool will be charting their progress over the coming months.
