About
I joined the English Language Centre of the University of Liverpool as a University Teacher in EAP in 2016. Prior to taking up my role at Liverpool I worked at the University of Essex for 13 years as EAP Tutor and then EAP/MA TESOL Lecturer, as well as In-session English Course Director and Pre-session English Course Director. Before starting my academic career in UK higher education in 2003, I taught English as a foreign language in Taiwan higher education for seven years.
My main teaching responsibility in the ELC is within the discipline-specific academic language and skills provision (ALS of the In-sessional English) for UG and PGT students in Liverpool Management School and the School of Engineering. I also teach research/thesis writing skills for research students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. I take on MA TESOL supervision when there are requests from the School of English.
My research interests lie in the following areas: English for specific and academic purposes, genre and discourse analysis, academic literacies in higher education, development of language teaching materials, design of EAP courses and syllabuses, and language teaching and learning in general.
