Research
I obtained a PhD from the University of Leicester for my research work investigating Heart Failure and utilising Cardiac Imaging. This research was funded by the National Institute for Health Research (Leicester Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Centre). My PhD work has resulted in numerous awards: The University PhD Prize; Young Investigator Award Runner-up (British Society for Heart Failure) and Early Career Award Finalist - Clinical (Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance).
I continue to be very research active (>15 International, multi-centre clinical trials, primarily as Principal Investigator since 2017) and have generated substantial income for the NHS in my roles. My primary research interests are: Heart Failure, Cardiac Imaging and Biomarker discovery. I am currently on the Steering Committee of the UK Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction National Registry and the Research & Audit Committee of the British Society of Echocardiography.
I regularly review grant/fellowship applications for the British Heart Foundation and other major Cardiology Journals. I am also on the Editorial Board of the prestigious Ultrasound Journal.
I have authored (and co-authored) several National Guideline publications relevant to Echocardiography through my role serving on the Education Committee of the British Society of Echocardiography over many years. In addition, I have published numerous, original research journal publications, as well as book contributions.
