About
I have over 12 years' experience of learning, teaching and assessment in Professional & Higher Education. I am also a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and a Director of the Liverpool Law Society. I am an award-winning educator with extensive experience of designing, developing and managing both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and am an expert in module and assessment design and skills development in law students.
I am currently the Employability Lead for the School of Law and Social Justice at the University of Liverpool. In this role, I lead a variety of projects and work with various stakeholders to connect our students with future employers and improve their career readiness. I am also the Director of Studies for our prestigious Law with a Year in Industry programme and a member of the School of Law and Social Justice Leadership Team. In addition, I have supported the student experience in my roles as Academic Enhancement Lead and Deputy Director of Education.
I am particularly interested in pedagogical theory, research and innovation. My pedagogical interests include independent learning, incorporating employability skills into the curriculum, games and gamification, partnering with students, authentic assessment and programmatic approaches to assessment. I have a passion for innovative pedagogy, game-based learning and skills development and I like to use my scholarship to enhance my teaching and improve the student experience. My teaching and legal expertise lies primarily in contract, corporate and commercial law.
Prior to working in higher education, I practised as a corporate solicitor in Lawrence Graham (London), Allen & Overy (London) and DWF (Liverpool) for over 10 years. I advised on high profile national and international projects and my expertise included initial public offerings on AIM and the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange, public takeovers, public and private mergers and acquisitions and disposals. I also advised clients on general company law issues, corporate governance, private equity transactions, joint ventures, management buyouts and a range of commercial contracts.
I am the creator and host of the University of Liverpool Law School careers and employability podcast, Legal Directions, which can be accessed using the following link: https://open.spotify.com/show/4bVPpXPNadmr9F4a59gMHh?si=59dcb2a1af8a4a76.
