About
Dr Katharine Stott is an Academic Clinical Lecturer in Antimicrobial Pharmacology. Her current work is focused on optimising treatment for invasive infections that affect immunocompromised populations.
Katharine studied medicine in Liverpool and undertook an MSc in Humanitarian Studies before beginning her clinical training in London in 2009. In 2011 she studied for a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene before working as a medical officer in Lesotho, Southern Africa. Following this she worked in clinical and academic roles in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and then in Salvador, Brazil. In 2013 she returned to Liverpool and was appointed to the post of Academic Clinical Fellow in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Internal Medicine. She was awarded a Wellcome Trust clinical PhD in 2021, with thesis focussed on the pharmacodynamics of antifungal drugs in HIV-associated invasive fungal infections. She is currently an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in antimicrobial pharmacology, a lead mentor for the Fleming Fund Fellowship programme and teaching lead for pharmacology and therapeutics at Liverpool medical school.
