Research
Helen has a wide range of clinical interests, although is particularly interested in infectious disease. She has published research on the topics of cellulitis in horses, iatrogenic synovial sepsis following intra-articular injections in horses, and welfare scoring of wild ponies.
Helen is also contributing to the development of teaching models and simulators to develop practical clinical skills in veterinary students. She has published a literature review on this topic and is currently working on the development of a number of simulators for teaching clinical skills related to equine practice.
In 2022, Helen was awarded an IVES research grant to develop a surgical simulator (model) for teaching standing castration in the horse and in 2023 she was awarded a grant from the University's Centre for Innovation in Education for the development of veterinary auscultation simulators.
