Professor Andrea Jorgensen
PhD MSc BA ATT ATII

About

I am Professor of Biostatistics, specialising in statistical methods for pharmacogenetic analysis. I obtained an MSc with distinction in Medical Statistics from Lancaster University in 2004, and a PhD in Medical Statistics from the University of Liverpool in 2010. I co-lead the Department of Biostatistics' Statistical Genetics and Pharmacogenomics research group and my research interests are within application and development of statistical methods related to pharmacogenetic research, particularly systematic reviews and meta-analysis of pharmacogenetic studies, genetic data with survival endpoints, polygenic risk scores, pharmacogenetic prediction models and biomarker-guided trials. I also have an interest in statistical methods for personalised/stratified medicine more broadly, including analysis of biomarker data. I work closely with colleagues within the Wolfson Centre for Personalised Medicine and am experienced in analysing large pharmacogenetic datasets across a wide range of therapeutic areas, including anticoagulation, anti-epileptic drugs and asthma.

I would be pleased to hear from prospective PhD students interested in applying and/or developing methods for analysis of genetic data.
