The University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS) held the second Enhance Week of the 2024-25 academic year from Monday 3 – Friday 7 March which was a huge success, offering master’s students a chance to develop employability and extra-curricular skills.

Enhance Week is a key highlight of the Enhance Programme which sees lectures paused allowing students to focus on career-building activities, with two weeks per semester dedicated to the development of critical skills to provide students with solid foundations to thrive in today’s competitive market for talent.

Throughout the week, 26 exciting events were held covering a wide range of topics. Industry leaders such as Amplify Trading and Quirky Digital led sessions, helping students enhance both technical and practical skills.

Alongside subject-specific sessions for students, notable workshops included Getting Started on Bloomberg and Data Analysis with Chat GPT, providing students with hands-on experience and practical knowledge in crucial areas like financial data and data analytics.

Among the key highlights was the Nano Industry Project, in collaboration with Practera, an innovative company that offers first-class experiential learning opportunities. This two-week project enabled students to work on real-world challenges with actual employers, bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional practice.

Another major highlight event was the Price of Football live podcast event, hosted by Kieran Maguire and Kevin Day. With over 400 students and guests in attendance, Kieran and Kevin spoke with prominent figures Tom Beahon, co-founder of the apparel brand Castore, and Alan Myers, former Director of Communications at Everton FC, who shared their insights. Both guests captivated the audience by sharing their career experiences and were on hand to answer questions from the audience.

Additionally, students were invited to showcase and celebrate their heritage and culture through the Heritage and Culture Showcase with their peers, while data-focused workshops like Data Analysis with Chat GPT helped develop technical expertise in modern industries.

Students were also invited to take part in fun and social activities outside of the classroom during Enhance Week. This included the chance for students to make new friends at a mystery movie night, and sports activities such as badminton and basketball in the University’s Sports Centre in addition to getting LinkedIn headshots or simply have fun posing at the photobooth!

Enhance Week 2025 continues to provide a platform for ULMS students to build essential career skills, gain industry insights, and network with professionals.

The week underscored the Management School’s commitment to preparing students for success in their future careers through practical experience, expert-led sessions, and valuable networking opportunities.
