The Price of Football Live Show Returns to the University of Liverpool

As part of the University of Liverpool Management School’s Enhance Week, over 400 attendees gathered in the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre on Tuesday 4 March for a special live edition of The Price of Football podcast.
Hosted by comedian and writer Kevin Day and the Management School's football finance expert Kieran Maguire, the event offered insightful analysis, humour, and engaging discussion on the financial side of football.
Kieran and Kevin were joined by special guests Alan Myers, Regional News Editor at Sky Sports News and former Everton Director of Communications, and Tom Beahon, co-founder of premium sportswear brand Castore.
They provided valuable insights to a packed audience into the business of football media, club communications, and the rise of a global sports brand.
The panel tackled key football finance topics, including club ownership, broadcasting deals, and financial regulations. A lively Q&A session saw students and staff put their questions to the experts, sparking debate and entertaining anecdotes.
This was the second time The Price of Football live show has been hosted at the University, following a successful event in March 2024.
That session featured The Athletic’s Matt Slater, who discussed Football League finances, Everton’s points deduction, football club ownership, and the structure of US sports, including the power of the NFL.
With The Price of Football surpassing 18 million downloads and earning recognition from The Guardian and The Radio Times, the event was a fantastic opportunity for students to gain industry insights.
Enhance Week comes as part of the Management School’s Enhancement Programme which is a development programme for master’s students. The event was also supported by the Management School’s Centre for Sports Business, a leading hub for sports industry research and consultancy.
