About

Lorna Mitchell is a Lecturer in the Law School. She is also the School of Law & Social Justice Employability Lead; Senior Fellow of Advance HE; and a non-practising solicitor. Lorna is also a Director of Liverpool Law Society.

Lorna has over 10 years’ experience as a Law Lecturer, Module Leader and Programme Leader on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Lorna has extensive experience of designing, developing and managing undergraduate and postgraduate courses and is an expert in module and assessment design and skills development in law students.

Lorna is also interested in pedagogical theory, research and innovation. She has a keen interest in encouraging students to become independent learners, embedding employability skills in the undergraduate curriculum, games based learning and the enhancement of the student learning experience through innovation. Lorna has considerable teaching and student support experience and her legal expertise and passion lies primarily in contract, corporate and commercial law and legal skills.

Prior to working in higher education, Lorna practised as a corporate solicitor in Lawrence Graham (London), Allen & Overy (London) and DWF (Liverpool) for over 10 years. Lorna advised on high profile national and international projects and her expertise covered initial public offerings on AIM and the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange, public takeovers, public and private mergers and acquisitions and disposals. Lorna also advised clients on general company law issues, corporate governance, private equity transactions, joint ventures, management buyouts and a range of commercial contracts.
