About

I am an optical imaging researcher/optical engineer with a focus on medical device development. My expertise lies in the field of advanced imaging and sensing technology, including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), fundus imaging devices, and mmWave radar-related applications. I have authored/co-authored in a range of publications in Optics and Lasers in Engineering, Scientific Reports, Optica Publishing Group, and Plant Direct, etc

I work with Prof Yao-Chun Shen in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Dr Yalin Zheng on multiple projects. A project in which I made significant contributions is the "Development of New Low-Cost Point of Care Diagnostic Technologies for Diabetic Retinopathy in China," an EPSRC GCRF-funded project (EP/R014094/1, 2018-2022). My responsibilities included designing, implementing, and testing a novel line-scanning fundus camera with an integrated point-scanning OCT module. The camera underwent trials in Xiamen, China, where I served as the lead trial researcher/engineer.

My current project, funded by EPSRC (EP/W006642/1), aims to develop in-line and non-destructive inspection methods for Power Electronic Modules (PEM) package quality and internal integrity assessment (wire bonds, die attachment, and encapsulant) embedded within the production line.

I am also a ICURe alumni and an Entrepreneurial Lead from SETSquared February 2023 Cohort. The innovation "Transforming Intrusive Retinal Angiography with AI-Enhanced Wide-field Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Technology" I represent was recommended to spin-out from the university by the final Optional Roundabout panel. We are in the business planning stage and I am happy to have a chat if you are interested in our case.
