About
I graduated in Diagnostic Radiography from Bangor University in 1996 with first class honours, and spent my clinical career working in NHS Trusts in the North West of England, specialising in oncology (cancer) imaging, especially CT and MRI scanning, and clinical education.
I trained as a Learning Representative for the Society of Radiographers, supporting both Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiographers with Continuing Professional Development.
I completed my MSc in 2000, with a study on radiation dosimetry in CT, and an additional Post Graduate Certificate, in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice, in 2011, with fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
I later worked as an NHS Trust Practice Education Facilitator, managing placements for multi-professional healthcare students, and subsequently as an honorary lecturer, teaching health professionals new to oncology, including communication skills in cancer care.
I have held several clinical management roles – Superintendent Radiographer, Principal Radiographer, and Lead Allied Health Professional for Diagnostics (professional leadership of Radiology, Pathology, and Cardiorespiratory services). During this time, I gained a further Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership. In 2015, I was awarded the Society of Radiographers North West Radiographer of the Year, for contributions to clinical education and leadership.
I have worked full-time at the University since 2018, and am currently the Professional Lead for Diagnostic Radiography.
I am currently undertaking doctoral study, researching person-centredness in oncology imaging.
