Teaching
Tom leads the MA in Media, Data and Society programme and also teaches on the BA Media, Data and Society and MSc Data Science and Communication degrees. He particularly enjoys teaching the two core modules in Big Data and Society, which focus on big data and how it is collected and used in modern society; in the politics and policy questions around social media and algorithm use; and in the interactions between media, platforms, and citizens. He also enjoys teaching research methods, especially to those with no previous experience of quantitative and computational approaches.
