About
I joined the University of Liverpool in 1995 taking up a junior administrator position in the former central professional services division 'Administrative Services' based in Senate House. This gave me a good foundation and understanding of the working practices and culture of a higher education institution. I took a more senior role in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics in 1997 supporting the EU funded Centre for Intelligent Monitoring Systems (CIMS). I then progressed to a new role supporting the Head of the School of Biological Sciences in 2000. The former School of Biological Sciences was restructured in 2010 to form the Institute of Integrative Biology (IIB) and I was appointed as IIB's Management Services Team Leader. IIB was merged into the new Institute of Systems, Molecular and Integrative Biology (ISMIB) in 2020 as part of Project SHAPE. I continued as ISMIB's Management Services Team Leader until leaving in October 2021.
My current role is Research Strategy, Planning and Performance Officer in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences' Research and Impact Directorate, providing strategic direction and support for the effective planning of research, improving research performance and delivering the Faculty's research strategy. Operational aspects include oversight of HLS' Researcher Concordat commitments and action plan; support for HLS's early career researcher communities; coordination of HLS' E-Lab book scheme. As well as membership of the following committees and groups:
- HLS Faculty Research and Impact Strategy Committee (FRISC)
- RID representative on IPH Research and Impact Committee
- HLS Faculty Academic Portfolio Planning Development Group
- HLS Early Career Researcher Leadership Group: Secretary
