Teaching

Neuroscience

I teach about all aspects of nervous system development, and in particularly run the 2nd year 'Functional Neuroanatomy' module for Anatomy and Human Biology students that examines the nervous system in its entirety using a combination of lectures, seminars, and practicals in the Human Anatomy Resource Centre using cadaveric human brain material. I also teach on the 3rd year neuroanatomy optional module, focussing on developmental neurobiology. I run seminars on brain development, autism spectrum disorder, and medulloblastoma.

Evolutionary developmental biology

I trained as an evolutionary developmental biologist, and teach numerous aspects of comparative embryology and anatomy. In particular, I run the 3rd year optional module 'Becoming Human', which examines human evolution from the perspective of genomics, embryology, and anthropology.

Tutorials

I am a huge believer in tutorial systems, and am a tutor to four fantastic tutees currently in their 2nd year on the BSc Anatomy and Human Biology.
