Dr. Sushil Sainani is a senior lecturer in finance with a passion for understanding the evolving role of corporate leaders in shaping financial and investment strategies. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Liverpool in 2017 and a Master's in Financial Economics from the Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow in 2012.
Sushil’s research dives into the distinctive characteristics, decision-making styles, and strategic behaviors of modern Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) and their impact on corporate policies. His expertise spans corporate finance, environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG), and market-based financial accounting, both in research and teaching. His works have been published in leading academic journals across disciplines, such as the Journal of Corporate Finance (JCF) and the European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR), and have been featured in mainstream media outlets such as Fortune Magazine, CFA Institute Digest, Columbia Law School's Blog on Corporations and the Capital Markets (Columbia University) and Insigniam Quarterly
His contributions to sustainability and corporate governance research have been recognized with multiple prestigious research grants from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the British Academy. Beyond his research, Sushil is an active speaker in academic research meetings, frequently presenting at prestigious accounting and finance conferences. He also serves on the Editorial Review Board of Corporate Governance: An International Review (CGIR)—a globally respected journal at the forefront of corporate governance research.
