Dr. Simon Campion serves as the Visualisation Lead at the University of Liverpool’s Virtual Engineering Centre and Digital Innovation Facility, where he has consistently demonstrated leadership in immersive technologies and interactive visualisation. With over 25 years of experience, He has led innovative projects that have advanced research and commercial applications across multiple sectors.
Dr. Campion manages two state-of-the-art facilities, including the University’s mixed reality lab within the Digital Innovation Facility and the XR facility at the UK National Centre for Digital Heritage. Leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, developers, and artists, he has driven research and delivered bespoke industry solutions.
He excels in leading the development of virtual environments, serious games, educational simulations, and architectural and product visualisation. His proficiency in leading-edge software, alongside expertise in hardware systems including CAVEs, panoramic screens, and motion capture technologies, positions him as a leader in the immersive visualisation domain.
With a career spanning over two decades, He has consistently taken projects from concept to completion, specialising in real-time graphics for both commercial and research ventures. His work exemplifies a unique blend of technical acumen, creativity, and a dedication to advancing knowledge and applications in immersive technology and visualisation.
