About

I am a senior lecturer in Economics and senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy, working in higher education since 2008 - focusing on Arts & Cultural Industries and economics education. My PhD research particularly looked at the microeconomics of consumer demand for 'free at source' cultural festivals during the Liverpool 2008 Capital of Culture year, although I also have a Masters of Business Administration - and have also taught business and management economics. Prior to completing my PhD I worked first as a market analyst in a small consultancy firm specialising in the application of small area statistics for geographical marketing and consumer services. I then worked in Actuarial Consulting for a large Blue chip firm (Pensions - specifically executive as well as large scheme pensions), before running my own business in web based consulting services, which provides an additional perspective on the application of economics in the working world.
I have overseen the B.Sc. Economics programme since 2018 and continue to see it flourish as a programme offering outstanding research-led teaching at the cutting edge of contemporary economics.
