Research
I have a specific interest in the use of simulation for the development of clinical skills and for optimising student clinical placement outcomes. I have recently completed a secondment with the Society of Radiographers to develop national guidelines for the use of simulation in the education of pre-registration therapeutic radiographers. This involved carrying out a national Delphi study to identify the priority areas for simulation use, and the report and guidelines are due to be published shortly.
I am currently working towards my PhD via the prior publication route. The focus of this will be my simulation work, looking more specifically at the impact of simulation on development of inter-personal skills.
I am a member of the international Advanced Practice in Radiation Therapy project group, which aims to analyse the variations in roles of therapeutic radiography advanced practitioners across the world. The team plans to carry out an international Delphi project to map advanced roles.
I hold an honorary contract with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and I am currently working with them to carry out a qualitative research project looking at patient experience of MRI within radiotherapy.
