Professional Activities
I am editorial board member for five international, peer-reviewed journals, and have served as a member of the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council College, an external advisor for research projects and centres, and a trustee for organisations and funding bodies. Other external appointments have included Visiting Professorships at universities overseas, examining appointments across a range of disciplines and universities, and working as General Secretary of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music.
I have engaged non-academic organisations in training and development initiatives related to my research; worked with commercial companies to deliver music business and training courses, and music industry seminars and conventions; contributed to Liverpool's successful UNESCO City of Music bid and acted as a founding partner for the Merseyside Music Development Agency.
