Research Interest 1
My core research interest is the interplay between animal health and society; the social effects of animal health issues and the impact of human behaviour on animal health.
Animal health impacts society through many mechanisms; zoonotic diseases and animal induced injury directly impact health, concern regarding such events may induce fear and modify behaviour and, for those who own or manage animals or trade in animal products, animal diseases may have social and economic impacts. My research touches on all of these areas and includes the epidemiology and sociology of (a) zoonotic disease (b) animal-related injury including dog bites and (c) animal health management and care.
