Professional Activities

As a consultant specializing in pain medicine at The Walton Centre, I am deeply committed to providing comprehensive care and management for individuals grappling with chronic pain conditions. Leveraging my expertise, I conduct thorough assessments, devise tailored treatment plans, and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes for my patients.

In parallel with my clinical responsibilities, I hold the prestigious position of a Versus Arthritis Clinical Research Training Fellow at the University of Liverpool. Currently, immersed in the fourth year of my Ph.D. program, my research endeavours focus on elucidating the intricate mechanisms underlying chronic pain in the Passive Transfer Model of Fibromyalgia. This pursuit of knowledge not only fuels my passion for advancing the field but also underscores my dedication to improving the lives of those affected by debilitating pain disorders.

Furthermore, I serve as a consultant for a number of pharmaceutical companies, including UCB and BioHaven, where I play a role in bridging the gap between scientific research and clinical practice. By translating scientific discoveries into tangible clinical benefits.

My involvement in clinical trials serves as a testament to my commitment to advancing the field of pain medicine. Actively participating in the evaluation of new therapies and interventions, I contribute to expanding the arsenal of treatment options available to patients, thereby shaping the future landscape of pain management.

I have recently to served on the Board of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, where I actively contributed to shaping guidelines, policies, and initiatives aimed at promoting excellence in pain management and advancing professional standards.

Public engagement is a cornerstone of my professional ethos, and I am deeply committed to raising awareness and fostering understanding of pain-related issues. Recently, I had the privilege of sharing insights and expertise on BBC Radio Merseyside, shedding light on my research and its potential implications for individuals living with chronic pain. Additionally, I am slated to participate in an upcoming event in May focused on Unravelling Chronic Pain in Aintree.

In addition to my research and clinical endeavours, I am actively involved in academic pursuits, including writing systematic reviews on pain medicine and contributing to guideline development. Notably, I was recently involved in the development of the Royal College of Physicians' Guidelines on Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) Diagnosis.

I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and I enjoy teaching, from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. I am actively involved in educating the next generation of healthcare professionals in the intricacies of pain medicine. As part of my commitment to education, I will serve as faculty on the upcoming Liverpool Chronic Pain Course this summer, sharing my expertise and insights with fellow practitioners and aspiring clinicians alike.
