Professional Activities

I have many years of experience of collaborations with industry and clinical colleagues to develop translational opportunities for my research. I have worked with industry via CASE stduentships and through KTP programmes. In 2009 I was awarded the Armourers and Brasiers Materials Science Venture Prize which is designed to deepen the impact and reach of its activities by providing funding for the commercialisation of materials-related intellectual property of value. It is a prestigious prize which raises the profile of materials science research and development and provides recognition for leading researchers in the field.

I have international collaborations with the Departments of Ophthalmology and Engineering at Hong Kong University and with Biomedical Engineering at the University of New South Wales in Australia. I have established a strong collaboration with Aurolabs and Aravind Eye Care System in India and have previous interactions with LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India through The Wellcome Trust.
