Phillip Ormrod is a professor of accounting. He is also a chartered accountant, having qualified with Deloitte.

His research interests are financial reporting, corporate governance, risk and auditing. Phil’s recent publications include: the impact of financial shocks on financing and investment policies; corporate governance and risk; and the impact of IFRS adoption. Earlier research includes: corporate reporting and loan covenants; whether executive stock options induce volatility; and regulation of credit rating agencies. Phil has contributed to several books and published in professional journals. Research projects have been funded by grants from: the ICAEW, the European Commission, and ACCA.

In terms of external engagement Phil has worked with the ICAEW in developing professional examination syllabuses that have been adopted and used globally for the promotion of accounting education.

Phil major managerial role in the university is as Director of Management School Programmes for the University of Liverpool, London Campus. Successful MSc programmes have been established in London in Accounting and in Finance and Investment Management.
