Metacognitive Therapy and Theory
My main research interest is the development and evaluation of metacognitive therapy for anxiety and depressive disorders in adult mental health and physical health populations.
Clinical Significance of Psychological Treatment Studies
A critical element in psychological treatment outcome research is establishing if the treatments are clinically meaningful and not merely statistically significant. Systemtatic reviews using individual patient data have indicated that there is considerable room for improvement in treatment efficacy.
Alleviating Emotional Distress in Physical Health Conditions
The translation of psychological interventions to physical health conditions needs to follow specific guidelines begining with testing the underlying theory/psychological mechanisms on which the intervention is based, before moving to treatment evaluation.
