About
Patrick is a Geographic Information Scientist who seeks to generate new and important insights about cities and regions, with a particular emphasis on processes and dynamics related to Spatial Inequality, Retail Geography and Place-Based Policy. In particular, his work harnesses cutting-edge methodologies and new forms of spatial data, such as those derived from mobile phones, to tackle injustice across the city. For example, he is interested in strengthening our understanding of the decline of different retail environments and the role of different factors that are driving it, as well as shining an important light on neighbourhoods where spatial inequalities in transport and amenity access are fuelling cyclical disadvantage for populations. Patrick's ongoing research seeks to bridge these two concepts, and consider the pivotal role that retail & transit spaces play in fostering equality and sustainability throughout the city, and the consequences of (in)accessibility for disadvantaged populations.
