About

Prior to joining the University of Liverpool Management School as an Associate Professor of Finance, I held academic positions at Cardiff Business School, University of Birmingham Business School, Lancaster University Management School and Humboldt University of Berlin. I hold a PhD degree in Finance from Lancaster University. I am also a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Accounting & Finance at the University of Lancaster Management School, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the American Finance Association (AFA), European Finance Association (EFA) and Financial Management Association (FMA), and hold a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter.

My research interests are in the areas of empirical corporate finance, governance, and managerial behavior. My current research focuses on managerial risk-taking behaviors and the role of corporate governance and compensation incentive mechanisms in mitigating risk-related agency conflicts. I also study firm’s financing and investment decisions and the impact of top management team and the board of directors on these decisions. In a related research stream, I explore the impact of internal and external incentive mechanisms on firm’s ESG outcomes and policies.

Among others, I have published in journals such as the Review of Finance, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Corporate Finance.
