Professional Activities

I am enthusiastic about public engagement and disseminating my research in a variety of ways. I am a keen public speaker and have delivered talks and evening lectures to the general public about my research (e.g., how to make decisions under pressure). I regularly provide talks and interactive workshops to organisational groups working in high-stakes contexts (e.g., Emergency Services) and have been interviewed to provide expert insight in organisational training videos (e.g., for the National Ambulance Resilience Unit). I have also been interviewed for a documentary series on decision-making under pressure, and spoke on BBC Radio 4's PM show about indecision. In recognition of my achievements in public engagement, I was the Margaret Mead Award Lecturer at the 2019 British Science Festival, which celebrates early career researchers with exceptional skills in public engagement.

Engaging with the public is a core motivation for me as a researcher, and I am keen to collaborate with academics, organisations, and other interested parties to achieve this goal. If you would like to discuss this with me then please get in touch.
