Research Overview
I lead the four-year project "Land Use Effects on Aquatic Fluxes of Greenhouse Gases from Ponds and Ditches" (LEAF-PAD), funded by the Swedish research council Formas. This project seeks to understand what role small, constructed ditches and ponds play in global emissions of greenhouse gases, as well as how much carbon these waterbodies bury in their sediments.
I am a co-investigator on the project "Drivers And Effects of Modified Nutrient Stoichiometry from Source to Sea" (DAEMONS) which measures dynamics of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus in lakes, streams, rivers and coasts in western Sweden. This is to understand how long-term environmental change in terrestrial landscapes affects coastal ecosystems and biogeochemistry.
I am also a co-investigator on the project "Wetland Toolkit for hydrological ecosystem services" (Wet-Kit) which investigates the multifunctionality of constructed wetlands and ponds in agricultural landscape. What role do these small waterbodies play in greenhouse gas emission, hydrology, and nutrient retention?
