About
I am Matthew Gemmell. I got my BSc (Hons) in Microbiology at The Queen's University Belfast. Following this I worked as a graduate intern for the N.I. Health Service for a Year to save money for a Master's Degree. I was successful and completed an MSc in Bioinformatics at the University of Edinburgh.
Following this I became a trainee Bioinformatician at CGEBM, the University of Aberdeen's Genome centre, where I was promoted to a Bioinformatician within 6 months. There I worked with many hard working and talented bioinformaticans, biologists and lab technicians. I collaborated with many research groups and individuals across the life sciences of the Univeristy and continue to do so.
As well as research I carried out teaching and public engagement which I throughly enjoyed and hope to continue.
