About
Louise directs the Chamber Choir, an auditioned choir for students, and the UNIty Choir, the University's community choir which is open to staff students and members of the local community. She also devised and runs the Vocal Leadership placement as part of the SOTA300 Work Placement module, the 'Singtastic!' singing programme with local primary schools, and works closely with other members of the performance team to create and oversee performance opportunities for students. Under Louise's tenure the choirs have performed in numerous concerts both on and off campus, including at the Tung Auditorium, Liverpool Cathedral, the Eurovision Village stage and in Bruges and Ypres on our 2023 tour to Belgium.
After a decade as a music specialist teacher in secondary and primary schools, Louise trained as a conductor and quickly built a reputation for her engaging style and high standards. Alongside her work at the University, Louise enjoys a busy freelance career: she is a conducting tutor and Choral Events Lead for Sing for Pleasure, leads workplace choirs for The Hallé, is a regular guest tutor for Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir, Liverpool Philharmonic Children's Choir, and Sale Youth Choirs, and is in demand as a workshop leader. She is also an accomplished soprano soloist in both oratorio and for recitals across the North West, sings with Liverpool Bach Collective, and as a professional choral singer.
Louise retains a keen interest in music education and the role of singing in schools and communities, and the associated areas of vocal pedagogy and musicianship.
