About
Lindsay joined the University of Liverpool in October 2024 as Lecturer in Music and Audiovisual Media. Prior to this, she has worked at The University of Bristol and Cardiff University, where she taught on a range of topics relating to media music and historical musicology. She obtained her PhD from The University of Bristol in 2019.
Lindsay’s research and teaching interests focus on music in audiovisual media, including film, television, videogames, and the internet. Her research primarily focuses on contexts beyond Hollywood (e.g. European cinema or independent videogames) and is united by theoretical questions relating to ideology and critical theory. She has recently published on music and comedy in Polish cinema and is currently writing a monograph exploring the ideological functions of music in Soviet and Nazi cinema. She has also recently collaborated with members of the Music and Online Culture Research Network, researching musician-themed mobile games and transmedia fandom.
