About

My research interests include critical discourse studies, British fascism, racism, rhetoric and argumentation, and commemorative discourse.

I am Editor of the international journal Critical Discourse Studies and co-editor of Bloomsbury book series Advances in Critical Discourse Studies.

Our University is a member of two doctoral partnerships, funding PhDs in the humanities and social sciences.
I welcome inquiries about Doctoral research and would be very happy to supervise projects which take a Critical Discursive or rhetorical approach to analysing media discourses, political discourses or commemoration.

The North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), to support postgraduate studentships and training in the social sciences. For more details, see their website - and especially their pathway for Linguistics

There is also the North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership (NWCDTP). They are funded by the AHRC and fund research in the arts and humanities. There is information on their pathways on their website
