Professional Activities

Outside of the School of Architecture Helen is currently a member of the RIBA Education and Learning Committee, in 2023 was a judge for the RIBA Presidents Medals Silver Award and has been involved with the RIBA North West EDI group. She is currently an external examiner on the Architecture and Urban Planning BA at Newcastle University School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape and has previously been an external examiner here at Liverpool School of Architecture. During 2023 she became a mentor for the Women in Architecture Network alongside being a PLACED ambassador. At the MSA Helen drove a Faculty project supporting over forty colleagues to successfully attain their Senior Fellowship of the HEA.

Additionally, Helen was heavily involved with The Architecture School for Children (TASC) between 2014 and 2016, which involved building a number of inclusive school playgrounds, co-running participative design and creative workshops with Key Stage 1&2 school children from twelve schools in the boroughs of Manchester, Trafford and Salford. The particular highlight was the development of a long-term business plan with TASC exploring various funding streams including long-term investment from One Manchester.
