About

Dr Hannah Twiddy has been Academic Director on the Doctoral Programme for Clinical Psychology since January 2023.

She qualified as a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist in 2007, from the University of Manchester. Since this time she has worked in a number of large North West NHS trusts specialising in clinical health/medical psychology; with a particular area of expertise is chronic pain, but having also worked across general medicine specialities, including ICUs. Dr Twiddy worked for 8 years as Research Lead on Pain Management Programmes at The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neuroscience.

Clinically, she has extensive experience in adult mental health presentations both within and without the context of physical health conditions.

She continues to work as a Clinical Psychologist in adult mental health in private practice in South Manchester and regularly provides psychological expert evidence for the Courts in civil claims of clinical negligence and personal injury.

Research interests are in birth trauma, physical health and mental health and chronic pain.
