About
I am a microbiologist with an interest in the spread of antimicrobial resistance in microbiomes. I completed my PhD at the University of Birmingham, where I investigated the bacterial hosts of antimicrobial resistance genes in the human gut microbiome using metagenomics techniques. During my PhD, I developed a novel bioinformatics workflow to link antimicrobial resistance genes and plasmids to their bacterial hosts using Hi-C data. My current research at the Univeristy of Liverpool explores horizontal gene transfer of plasmids in the hospital sink drain microbiome using a range of real-world experiments and laboratory models.
