Professional Activities
Fiona has served on numerous scientific advisory committees and expert panels including previously the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs 2008-18; the Ministerial Review of New Psychoactive Substances; Public Health England review of drug treatment; and the Liberal Democrat cannabis regulation expert panel. Currently Fiona is a member of the Labour Party and Conservative drug policy reform expert panels and is a permanent member of the ACMD Technical Committee and ACMD NPS Committee. She is a founding member of Drug Science and currently sits on its Medical Psychedelics and Supervised Injecting Facilities Working Groups.
Fiona is founding director of the Loop (established in the UK in 2013 and in Australia in 2018), non profit harm reduction NGOs staffed predominantly by volunteer professionals, providing high quality drug checking and associated research, information, training and trend monitoring services to reduce drug and alcohol-related harm and promote health and wellbeing. The Loop is best known for introducing event-based drug checking in the UK in 2016 and community-based drug checking in the UK in 2018.
