About
Emma gained her BDS at the University of Liverpool. After graduating she completed her Dental Foundation Training in Birkenhead in a busy NHS practice, whilst there she also took part in a dental outreach scheme providing advice and signposting for the homeless in the local area. After completion of this year she decided to continue in general practice as an associate dentist, honing her skills as a general dentist and gaining MFDS of the Royal College of Surgeons England. After gaining a considerable amount of knowledge and experience in general practice, Emma applied to become a Postgraduate Educational Supervisor (ES) at the soonest opportunity, becoming one of the youngest Educational Supervisors in the North West. Gaining her PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice, she went on to be a valued member of the mersey deanery. After 3 years as an Educational Supervisor, Emma branched out into Undergraduate Dental Education, working part time as a Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Liverpool alongside her role as an Associate Dentist and ES, after 2 years teaching on the undergraduate restorative clinic, Emma was appointed Clinical Lecturer in Primary Dental Care at the University of Liverpool.
Emma decided to become a full time academic when the new role of Clinical Lecturer in Primary Dental Care came into fruition. As a full clinical academic, Emma enjoys the challenges that come with a new role, balancing clinical teaching alongside dental education research. The School of Dentistry's new Centennial Curriculum has brought plenty of opportunities for Emma to embrace.
Outside of the School of Dentistry, Emma is a dental examiner for the Licence of Dental Surgery at the RCS England.
