About
I am Professor of Psychology of Eating Behaviour in the Department of Psychology, Institute of Population Health, at the University of Liverpool. I lead the Appetitive and Addictive Behaviour Research Theme and the Appetite and Obesity Research Group.
I lead a programme of research on the psychology of food-related behaviours. Recent work is focusing on tackling dietary inequalities, and co-creating a healthy, sustainable and more equitable food system. I receive competitive research funding from major funders including UKRI and the European Commission, and have published more than 95 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals. I am a founding member of the Liverpool Food Growers Network, a trustee of Feeding Liverpool, and a member of the Food Standards Agency’s Advisory Committee on Social Sciences.
I have a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Psychology from the University of Leeds (1st Class) and a PhD from Bangor University. I have held post-doctoral research positions at Bangor University and the University of Bristol. I joined the University of Liverpool as a Lecturer in Psychology in 2013, and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2018, and to Personal Chair in 2023. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
