About
I completed my Degree in Biomedical Sciences, specialising in Medical Microbiology at Bradford University in 2005. I then worked in Industry as a QC microbiologist, while I applied for a PhD. I successfully gained a PhD, here at Liverpool in 2012, on the topic of antimicrobial resistant E. coli and Staphylococcus spp in the vet visiting dog population.
I have remained at Liverpool University since then, with the exception of a two year period where I completed a PGCE in Secondary Science and taught Science in a local Secondary School.
My Postdocs have centered on two key themes; antimicrobial resistance in poultry and cattle (both dairy and beef), and food borne pathogens such as Salmonella and Campylobacter in dairy cattle and poultry. During this time, I have been involved in teaching. Both in the lab, with undergraduate and Masters research projects, and PhD students and in lectures, tutorials, seminars and other teaching opportunities for the students on the University’s Veterinary Sciences Degree
I am now a Lecturer in Microbiology and teach in both the School of Life Sciences and School of Veterinary Sciences.
