Research

I have a broad interest in Health Psychology with a lifespan focus, and more specifically in ageing research. My research uses data from a wide range of sources, including England-wide NHS electronic health records, the British birth cohorts, ELSA, Whitehall II, Memento and the UK Biobank. I have an interest in the application of a range of statistical methods, such as meta-analyses, missing data analyses, longitudinal modelling (e.g., growth mixture models, cross-lagged panel models, linear mixed models), and causal inference methods (e.g., Mendelian Randomisation).

Longitudinal associations between mental health/wellbeing over the life course and ageing-related outcomes

- Associations between mental health over the life course and risk of dementia and cognitive decline
- Associations between psychological wellbeing (e.g. life satisfaction, meaning in life) and risk of dementia and cognitive decline

Mental health and wellbeing in people living with dementia

- Prevalence and risk factors for mental health problems in people living with dementia
- Access and effectiveness of psychological therapies offered in the NHS to treat symptoms of depression and anxiety in older people and people living with dementia
- Prevalence and risk factors for suicide in people living with dementia

Ageing and neurodivergence

- Understanding ageing related topics (e.g. experience of getting older, age-related illness etc) in neurodivergent populations (e.g. autistic people and people with ADHD)
