About

The Centre of West African Studies (CWAS) at the University of Birmingham was where I completed my undergraduate degree in African Studies in 1987. Enthused by this initial introduction to Africa, I immediately progressed to do an MA at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), the University of London that focused on Government & Politics of West and Southern Africa in 1988. I then spent 10 years working as a journalist with West Africa Magazine; freelancing; teaching IT skills to African migrants and refugees at the Africa Research & Information Bureau (ARIB) in South London. After this stint of varied work I pursued my doctorate titled: "Kwame Nkrumah: An Intellectual Biography" at SOAS, which was acquired in 2007. I see myself as a committed life long learner and believe in the African proverb "each one, teach one."
