About
Alistair Bond graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2008 with a first class degree in Anatomy and Human Biology. He went on to study for a PhD investigating the release of ATP from osteoblasts with its subsequent effect on bone. After graduating in 2011 Alistair attained a lectureship within the Human Anatomy Resource Centre where he teaches a variety of student cohorts. Alistair’s particular specialties are the teaching of thoracic anatomy in which he leads a dissection class and head and neck anatomy, stemming from his lead of dental anatomy from 2011-2017. Between 2018-2021 Alistair was the course lead for Anatomy in the School of Medicine with responsibility for the design of the curriculum and delivery of anatomy teaching to medical students. In 2021 Alistair achieved his senior lectureship and became the Deputy Director of the Human Anatomy Resource Centre before progressing to the directorship in 2024. Here he oversees the running of the department ensuring delivery of all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as running external courses for visiting clinicians
Alistair’s current research interests include the study of the rare diseases Hereditary Multiple Exostoses and alkaptonuria as well as the clinical anatomy of the ankle and foot. He has professional memberships with the Bone Research Society and the Anatomical Society. He also holds a fellowship with the Higher Education Academy.
